Dirt bin rental is a specialized heavy solid waste removal service for the disposal of excavated soil, fill dirt, topsoil, clay, and earth removed from residential and commercial landscaping, excavation, and construction projects. Because soil is significantly denser than mixed renovation waste, it is handled separately from general construction debris and taken to a dedicated solid waste facility. WastePro offers dirt and soil disposal bins in 5-yard and 14-yard sizes across Mississauga, Toronto, and the West GTA. For the best pricing and proper disposal, dirt loads are kept separate from other debris - but if your job site has a mix of dirt and other materials, we have a solution for that too. Flat rate pricing varies seasonally - call us or get a quote online for current pricing.

Important - How Dirt Disposal Works

Dirt and soil is taken to a specialized solid waste facility - which means it gets the best available disposal pricing when kept as a dedicated load. If your job site is primarily dirt or excavated soil, a dedicated dirt bin is the right call.

Got some other debris mixed in? Dirt bins are a bit more flexible than other solid waste types - depending on what's in the load, we may be able to accommodate some landscaping debris, brick, or concrete alongside the soil. Call us at 647-477-0537 before booking and we'll let you know what's okay to include. For larger amounts of mixed construction or renovation material, that load is handled as Mixed Waste and taken to a general dump with a wider range of bin sizes and pricing options. Either way, we'll help you figure out the most cost-effective setup for your job.

How Much Dirt Fits in Each Bin?

Soil is extremely dense - a relatively small volume can reach a bin's weight limit quickly. WastePro offers two bin sizes for dirt disposal, both sized to stay within MTO road weight limits for safe transport.

🔛

Bin SizeDimensionsWeight LimitApprox. Dirt Capacity
5 Yard12 ft × 5 ft × 2.5 ft1–1.5 tons (2,000–3,000 lbs)Small landscaping excavation, garden bed removal, or minor grading
14 Yard12 ft × 7 ft × 4.5 ft2–3 tons (4,000–6,000 lbs)Larger excavation, foundation dig-out, full backyard grade, or waterproofing project

Why only 5 and 14-yard? Dirt and soil are among the heaviest materials we handle. Larger bins filled with soil would exceed MTO legal road weight limits - making them unsafe and illegal to transport. The 5 and 14-yard sizes are specifically offered for heavy solid waste to ensure every load is road-legal and safely transported to the disposal facility.

What Projects Require a Dirt Disposal Bin?

Dirt bin rentals are used across a wide range of residential, landscaping, and contractor projects in Mississauga and the West GTA. Here's when you'll need one:

  • Topsoil replacement - removing old soil ahead of new lawn or garden installation
  • Foundation waterproofing - excavated soil from exterior foundation dig-outs
  • Pool installation or removal - excavation and backfill dirt removal

Dirt Bin Rental Pricing

WastePro offers both flat rate and per-tonne pricing for dirt and soil disposal. All dirt loads are weighed at the dump station and final billing is confirmed after pickup.

5-Yard Dirt Bin

Flat Rate: Varies - Dirt Only For dedicated dirt/soil-only loads. Price is locked at booking - not weighed, no adjustments after the fact. Includes delivery, pickup, up to one week rental, and disposal.

Got other debris in the bin? $220 base + $130/tonne If your load includes anything other than dirt/soil, it is treated as Mixed Waste and billed per tonne. Flat rate pricing applies to dirt/soil-only loads. Final weight confirmed at the dump station after pickup - overage charges apply to weight above 1.5 tonnes.

Do You Need a Permit for a Bin in Mississauga or Toronto?

On private property (your driveway or job site): No permit required. Just let us know where you want the bin placed and we'll handle the rest.

On a public street or city right-of-way: A permit from your municipality is required. In Toronto, this is a Boulevard Café / Patio / Bin permit through the city. In Mississauga, a Road Occupancy Permit is required. WastePro recommends confirming with your local municipality before placing a bin on a public road.

Frequently Asked Questions - Dirt Bin Rentals

What if I have dirt plus some other debris on my job site? Dirt bins are more flexible than other solid waste types - depending on what's in the load, we may be able to accommodate some landscaping debris, brick, or concrete alongside the soil. Give us a call at 647-477-0537 before booking and we'll let you know what's okay to include. For larger amounts of mixed construction or renovation material, that's handled as Mixed Waste with different bin sizing and pricing options. Either way, we'll sort out the right setup for your job.

Why are only 5 and 14-yard bins available for dirt? Soil is one of the densest materials we handle. Larger bins filled with dirt would exceed MTO legal road weight limits, making them unsafe and illegal to transport. The 5 and 14-yard sizes ensure every load stays road-legal.

How do I know which bin size to choose? For a small garden bed removal or minor grading job, the 5-yard is usually sufficient. For a larger excavation, a full backyard grade, or a foundation dig-out, the 14-yard is the right call. If you're unsure, call us at 647-477-0537 - we'll help you choose the right size in two minutes.

Is flat rate or per-tonne better for dirt? For most residential landscaping and excavation jobs where the load size is predictable, flat rate is the simpler and more cost-effective option. Per-tonne pricing is better suited for larger jobs where total load weight is harder to estimate. Call us and we'll walk you through which option makes more sense for your project.

How long can I keep the bin? The standard rental period is up to one week. If you need more time, call us at 647-477-0537 at least 48 hours before your scheduled pickup and we'll arrange an extension. Extended rental fees may apply.

What areas do you serve? WastePro delivers dirt bins across Mississauga, Brampton, Etobicoke, Oakville, Burlington, Milton, and West Toronto. Our yard is in Etobicoke, which means fast turnaround times across the entire West GTA service area.

How do I book? Call us at 647-477-0537, email admin@wastepro.ca, or order directly online at wastepro.ca. We'll confirm your bin size, delivery date, placement, and pricing before anything is confirmed.
